Commercial Roofing Superintendent Intern

With over 300 employees and multiple specialized divisions including Roofing, Asphalt and Concrete, Waterproofing, Landscaping, Snow, and Construction, DCPS delivers integrated service solutions to commercial property owners and managers.

Our Roofing Division specializes in commercial re-roofs, new construction, maintenance, and leak response. We are growing and investing in the next generation of construction leaders.

If you are pursuing a career in construction management, commercial roofing, or field operations leadership, this internship gives you direct exposure to jobsite supervision and real-world project execution.


Position Overview

The Commercial Roofing Superintendent Intern will work directly alongside experienced Roofing Superintendents and Project Managers to support the daily execution of commercial roofing projects.

This is a hands-on leadership development internship designed to provide exposure to:

• Field operations
• Crew supervision
• Safety compliance
• Quality control
• Material coordination
• Client communication

Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of how commercial roofing projects are executed from pre planning through completion.


Key Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent with daily jobsite oversight
• Participate in planning daily work activities and crew assignments
• Support safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
• Conduct quality walkthroughs and document findings
• Assist in coordinating material deliveries and equipment logistics
• Help maintain daily job logs, reports, and field documentation
• Shadow client meetings and subcontractor coordination efforts
• Monitor project progress and assist in identifying potential delays
• Support enforcement of company safety and performance standards
• Perform hands on field support tasks as needed

This role is structured as a learning experience. Interns will not be solely responsible for supervising crews but will actively participate in leadership processes.


What You Will Learn

• Commercial roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, BUR, and metal
• Blueprint and specification interpretation
• OSHA compliance and jobsite safety management
• Labor planning and scheduling
• Field documentation and reporting
• Budget awareness and production tracking
• Leadership communication in a construction environment


Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Interest in commercial construction or roofing operations
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights in a commercial roofing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Preferred

• Prior construction or roofing experience
• Bilingual English and Spanish
• Experience working on active construction job sites


Working Conditions

• Outdoor jobsite work in varying weather conditions
• Standing, walking, climbing, and lifting regularly
• Travel between job sites across the Colorado Front Range
• Exposure to loud environments and active construction zones


Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour

Final compensation will be based on experience, education, and skill level.

This position is nonexempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with Colorado wage laws.
