Landscape Construction Assistant Foreman

Position Summary

The Landscape Construction Assistant Foreman supports the Foreman in managing daily jobsite operations and landscape installation crews. This role assists in ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to design specifications.

The Assistant Foreman may lead crews when the Foreman is unavailable and plays an important role in maintaining safety standards, productivity, and quality installation practices.


Key Responsibilities

Landscape Installation

  • Install landscape projects according to construction plans and project budgets under the guidance of the Foreman
  • Assist with daily crew coordination and lead crews when the Foreman is unavailable
  • Follow blueprints, grading plans, construction drawings, and project specifications
  • Assist with establishing grades and elevations using laser or zip levels
  • Follow company installation methods and construction standards
  • Load trucks and trailers with materials and equipment as needed
  • Retrieve materials and supplies for job sites when required
  • Participate in monthly meetings with supervisors or managers

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate landscape equipment safely and according to company procedures
  • Perform equipment inspections including fluid checks before operation
  • Assist in communicating proper equipment usage and weight limitations to crew members
  • Follow maintenance procedures for trucks, trailers, and equipment

Communication

  • Maintain clear communication between crew members and production management
  • Respond to project related communication in a timely manner
  • Report unsafe or reckless activities to management

Safety

  • Attend weekly safety meetings and assist in leading training when the Foreman is unavailable
  • Ensure crews are working safely and job sites remain hazard free
  • Report accidents or incidents according to company policy

Time Management

  • Assist with keeping projects within budgeted labor hours
  • Support Foreman in managing project schedules and timelines
  • Handle timekeeping responsibilities for crew members when the Foreman is absent

Snow Operations

  • Maintain 24 hour on call availability during snow season
  • Operate snow removal equipment safely
  • Perform snow plowing, shoveling, blowing, and ice melt application as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Preferred certifications
OSHA 10 certification or higher
Bilingual English and Spanish

Experience requirements
Minimum one year of landscape or construction field experience

Additional requirements
Valid driver’s license approved by company fleet insurance
Experience with paver installation, irrigation systems, planting, and landscape construction techniques preferred


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating landscape equipment. Employees may lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors, and employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and construction environments.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required depending on project schedules and snow operations.

Benefits and Compensation

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
